It is a 7/98 build date MY 99.
This is the color that they used in all of the early 1999 intro to the 996 literature. It also is the color they used on the owners manual that year. You would think with Zenith Blue being their featured color that year that you would see more of them out there. On the contrary. I have never seen another one in person.

Thanks for the compliments.
I really wanted a 911 that was nor black, silver or red. If I go to a Porsche get together, it is likely I will have the only Zenith Blue car there. Even at bigger PCA events, that is the case. If I have a blck, silver or red car, I am likely to be one of many exactly like mine. I really like it and I get a ton of compliments on the color specifically.

i like the idea of a turbo - always wanted one since boyhood
but I like RWD and a GT2 is out of the question!
I also like the two seater compactness of my old boxster and the chuckability of mid-engine
oh well, i think i'm just a bit flummoxed right now

Moving from a '99 996 to an '06 Cayman is not a step down, IMHO. I know this is a 996 board, and I'll probably get lynched for saying it, but so many advances have been made from the MY '99 911 that the Cayman is at worst a lateral move, and is more likely an upward move. An '05-'06 997 to an "06 Cayman is a step down, yes, maybe even from an '02 - 04 996 to a Cayman, but a '99 996 to a Cayman is not.
OK. I'm going to bed now, so try not to flame me so bad I won't get up in the morn.

Ouch Palting....you may very well get it for that comment. So, by that logic you are saying that the 02 996 is leaps and bounds better than the 99 996?
Not sure they are even comparable. But, having a 996 and a 987 you can probably speak from personal experience so I will defer to you as more of a trusted authority on the comparison. I mean that as a compliment by the way (just in case it comes across in cyberland as sarcasm or the '01 La Crema showing up in my typing )
