Post Tell Me What You Think

I ordered a 2003 C4S on June 3rd.

I have never received any type of status report on the car. Last week I asked the salesman if the order had been accepted by Porsche and was told it had not yet been accepted.

At the outset I was prepared to wait four to six months, but I am over two months into it and the order has not received any acknowledgment.

So, I am considering looking for a car that is already on the ground. Do you think the dealer will return my deposit?

Did they cash your check? Sometimes they hold it until paperwork is complete!

That's what I did, after waiting five months for a straight answer from the dealer. Found almost the exact car I was looking for,(few extra options) at the car show in Philly.

Course I did not make the mistake of giving the dealer a deposit on my order. I love the car and am glad I did not wait. I would have just left the cash in the market and ended up with neither the car nor the cash......

oshixx, what was the dealer's reason for the order not being accepted, I mentioned on an earlier post I received a copy of the accepted order sent to my dealer from PCNA about 5 to 6 weeks after making the order. Maybe Champion are holding you back for a later production slot if they do not have an allocation?

Ohsixx, Just from experience with Champion our C4S was ordered just a few days before you placed your order, we were able to slip into a canceled spot. It was a late June build (start of build at least) and our order was confirmed the first week of June. I don't know if that is typical but it seems they confirm the acceptance of the order about a month before the starting build date. If I remember correctly you mentioned in an earlier post that you were expecting delivery in October, that puts you at starting production right around the end of August. So you should get confirmation soon, I would hope.

On a side note I remember before we placed the order for the car our salesman mentioned that if we placed an order the earliest we could expect it to be delivered was in December. Then after showing him we were serious he said he had one spot that a customer canceled out of that morning and if he could still change the order he would give us that allocated car. He was able to and we slipped right in. While it could have been a sales tactic the way it was presented leads me to believe it was not.

I hate to say it because Champion has been really phenomenal with keeping us up to date on the status of the car and the salesman was great but it could be your salesman thought he could slip you into an earlier allocation but is finding he can't and is just keeping you waiting hoping you will continue to wait. I would call him and ask point blank what month delivery will be in. If he still says October then I would believe him.

That is just my take and experience, I hope you get the answers you are looking for.

Thumbs down

I've been following your lack of communication complaints w/Champion. You shoud talk to the Manger of Sales, your salesman lost your confidence, because he lacks professionalism...never gave you a receipt!?

The 2003s will be arriving shortly. I would go for an early Oct/Nov. delivery.

Now if you really want to cancel, of course Champion will refund your money. Last year I cancelled my order with them. I had to prod them several times re refund.

Here is a hilarious dealbreaker story in a current thread in this forum; - hope you don't have to use it with Champion:

"He tells me he's just been fired from his job and the bank is going to repossess his house.

On top of that he notes that his ex-wife is served him alimony papers, and that he will be facing a very real declaration of bankruptcy in the near future."

I'm surprised. Champion sales is usually pretty good and on top. But nobody should rest on their laurels. If your frustrated speak to the sales or fleet manager. If that doesn't work then go elsewhere. Who needs this kind of headache.

Just cancelled my order. The salesguy very rudely hung-up on me. My experience with those people was bad.

So, I am now back to square one.

Just curious, with all of these long-term deposits isn't it possible that a dealership might make a serious $$ from this float? If so this would seem to be unethical.

Ohsixx,
Sorry about your experience with Champion, but dealers are independent businesses and even good dealerships sometimes hire poor sales personnel. On a more positive note, I hope you are able to find your P-car with little difficulty. In the past couple of weeks (since taking delivery of my C4S) I have noticed that premiums and used Porsche pricing have dropped precipitously. Some say it is because of declines in the market, others say concerns about the double dip. Nonetheless, it appears you might end up getting a better deal. Best of Luck! <img src="graemlins/bigok.gif" border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" />

Darn that blows Ohsixx. Well it's just matter of time when you'll get your P-car : ). I'm kinda impatient myself with things like that that's why if it's on the floor and it's bout what I want in terms of options and color then I go that route plus in most cases you'll get a little discount since it's on the floor. It'll happen Ohsixx. Regards. Mike
