Ah,...thanks for reminding me,....I think on top of X51 they should have included LSD. If they can do it for the 40th, damn it why can't they for the base 997

I forgot the gears and the limited slip. You can roll the fenders yourself you lazy a$$

I didn't forget no power windows, doors or mirrors.

I want ABS.

I didn't forget traction control that you can shut off completely.

I want airbags.

I think you already have your dream Porsche

yes but i want a 'modern' looking version that will fool the women into thinking i'm "respectable" and give me pretend-acceptance at the country club as well as help me avoid disdainful looks from 996/997 owners at the stop lights LOL

if i roll the fenders myself, which i can, i will have a really good chance of cracking the paint... this could be avoided by having it done at the factory before it ever sees paint

if you skip abs and traction you can *always* treat it like practicing for the track. especially in the winter. nothing will make you more gentle w/ the inputs

I hate to break this to you brother, but I don't think owning a 996/997 would solve your "problems." Also, you might not get any more disdainful looks from 996/997 owners, but you would get them from everyone else, particularly the air-cooled guys.

So, with the newer model, it is understandable to expect improvements over the previous motor without an appreciable increase in price. Like it has been for the 993 from 964, and the 996 from 993. Also, factor in that more than ever before there is a hp. war going on.....why not give the 3.6 x51 standard, and not a mear increase of 5hp., the record lowest increas in hp. between models.
The 3.8L would yield a 35 hp increase over the 996 3.6L base engine, and a 10hp increase over the 3.6L X51, not to mention 22 more ft-lbs of torque than the 3.6L X51.

The 3.8L is clearly a stronger performer than the 3.6L X51. Why not aim high?

YMMV.

Can someone tell me how to unsubscribe to a thread? I get more email telling me that someone has made yet another inane post on this topic than I get email telling me how to enlarge my manhood. Perhaps I should pay closer attention to both but who's got the time.

Jim,

Click on the User CP tab then unsubscribe from the post...

EDIT: To the point of the thread, I simply like my car the way it is.
No I don't think X51 should have been built in from the factory. Want more power (although I can't imagine why) pay up!
