Post Playing in the snow!

With about an inch and a half of fresh snow outside, I decided to give the 4-wheel-drive and the PSM a workout.

Coming upon the first right turn, which goes uphill, the car immediately pitched into oversteer even with gentle use of the throttle. The PSM light flashed and there was a loud shaky shudder as the car attempted to find grip. Getting nowhere, I went home in reverse.

Perhaps it was the 18-inch wheels and tyres that caused such a lack of success.

Anyone else have a snow-driving story to share?

its not so much the 18's but the LACK of snow tires! I put my c4 with snows on it through the paces and it performed better than my Jeep!

I have a '01 C2 with no PSM and have been playing in the snow like a madman for the last 2 days. Of course I do have winter tires which are a pre-requisite. The car behaves like a dream, it's 100% predictable and controllable oversteer is just a foot twitch away. You can get insane angles of slip and literally drive sideways. All at about 30km/hr . Off the line grip is great, I can drive away from any FWD car, I can annihilate any RWD truck, even AWD vehicles are fair game if they don't have snows!

Get winter tires, turn off that damn PSM and have some fun!

As great as PSM is it can't create traction when none is available. Get some snow tires and then have some fun.

Agreed - also, consider buying a set of 17" rims and use narrower snow tires - that will increase traction.

Regards.
