Replace PCM1 with PCM2
Is it possible to replace the pcm1 unit on a 2001 996 with the newer pcm2 unit? I thought you had to have a most system but a local porsche technician told me it could be done without rewiring. Who knows?

PCM2 use the MOST (fiber optic network). You would need a MY02 or newer car to do this without changing the whole car's wiring harness. Your best bet would be aftermarket.

If you were not using any of the stock wiring power connectors and running the rca out for a separate amp couldn't you get away with that then? Of couse if you had a changer it would have to be cdc 4 fiber optic though and I bet that cable is bucks.
