I've been told by the dealer the 3.4 flywheel has 8 and the 3.6 flywheel has 9.

thanks

unorthodox racing is one of the many manufacturers that has horribly ****ed up thier website info vis a vis porsches (clutchmasters is also abismal).

case in point: UR lists a flywheel (13lbs) for 996 Carrera 99-2002 3.6L but the 3.6L was never in production during that time.

how hard can it be for one company to check its facts...geez.

A 3.4 liter and 3.6 liter Carrera use the same (factory) flywheel - and it has 8 bolts.

^ loren, are you 100% sure on this? a lot of users seem to have had issues with fidanza and stillen flywheels having 9-bolts. perhaps they are for a GT3 or turbo?

Yes, a GT3/TT/GT2 motor is quite different and uses a different flywheel that is held on with 9 bolts. I can send you the parts pages if you don't believe me...

the 3.4L has 8 bolt holes. the fidanza LWF i ordered has 9. i called fidanza and THEY said their LWF was for the 3.6L motors.

call up a parts rep from a "proper" porsche dealership and ask if the 3.4 and 3.6 part numbers are the same. that's the only way to be sure.

here's my oem FW vs. the fidanza unit i had returned

Karlooz:

I had the exact same problem with Fidanza. Here's what mine looks like:

I called Fidanza and they told me that their flywheel was for a 3.6L 996. It seems that they have their information wrong (and I've heard other people say that their customer service is sub-par). My mechanic says that the flywheel is most likely for another generation (e.g. 993) 3.6L (and not the 996). They should do something about this since people are buying these under the assumption that they will work on 996s. I couldn't return it, so now I'm stuck with a flywheel that I can't sell since I'm not sure what car it belongs on.

It would work on a GT3...

And yes a 3.4L has only 8 flywheel bolts....... All of the cool RS/993/GT3 stuff won't fit. What a shame Porsche did this in this way....

They probably mean 996 turbo which as you all know IS a 3.6 liter 996, but is also an entirely different engine.

The only company that manufactures a Flywheel for a 996 (all models and years) Boxster and 996 tt is a company in Ca. by the name of Aasco and the 996 essentially uses the same bolt spacing a a S4 Audi also made by the same company
Best regards
