Angry Aero Kit Installation

Has anyone installed the 996 aero kit?

I had the aero kit installed on my 996 cab but the rocker panels don't seem to be correctly mounted. It seems like the panels need to be pushed down on the metal rail for a clean install - however, it seems to have lifted in a couple of places.

Has anyone done this successfully? Any advice?

(I'll take it back to the body shop ... but it would be great if I could fix it myself first)

That's great. I'll go back to my installer with the TSB and make sure they refit the side panels. It looks like they didn't use any adhesive to hold them on to the rails ...

Awesome install instructions Mike. I'm considering adding the spoiler to complete my aero kit and this looks relatively easy to do. Thanks for posting this!

Mike,

Thanks for the install page but you didn't go into a lot of detail on the side skirts. I have the TSB but it mentions using templates and some other parts that don't seem to be in the installation kit. Did they change the mounting (use of tape) after that TSB? I've got sideskirts with installed tape, and a pile of U brackets for the the bottom....

Where do you find this TSB? Sorry, I'm a pretty new owner trying to navigate my way around so much information.

Wellard, Any idea about these templates? Do you just put them in position, mark drilling points, and then go?

I have to admit that I chickened out and got my dealer to do the sideskirts. I was afraid of messing up the placement.

My side skirts were the newer version that you tape onto the car, so no drilling involved - a few bolts on each and then tape running down the side of the car - my dealer hated them and we got into an argument over them being reluctant to install and OEM part onto a car. I was not happy, but eventually they agreed to do the install, but refused to warranty them.

I was going to say that my side skirts are drilled and not taped. I guess it has been changed.

yes, the earlier ones were drilled and epoxied, but that later Mk1 skirts had double sided tape running down the top edge of each side skirt.

Any idea if there was an updated TSB or does anyone have a DIY for the new design?

Yes, the Mk1 TSB covers the original design, then the MK2 TSB covers the new design MK1 and MK2 side skirts (as they have the same method of attachment).

That makes sense. Drilling into the body may compromise the structure integrity.
