Just had the oil, filter changed and brake fluid drained and changed on my 01 C4 with 16k on the clock for $169 at my local independent Porsche service shop. The dealers margins are way too high for service. I assume that service and parts represent the biggest source of revenue and profit for all dealerships.

If you're still under warranty, wouldn't it make the most sense to continue to patronize your authorized dealer so that any extraneous repairs can be covered? It was my understanding that independent shops cannot bill under warranty. Anyone know if this is correct or not?

Taso is running TKX racing out of the old RPM facility 631-424-3640, he was the skill at rpm anyway.
I only go to the dealer for scheduled maint (Taso does everything else that I can't/don't want to do), as mine is under warranty. I think it pays to stay in good graces with the dealer, as I've had several wear/tear items replaced at no charge and they look the other way with track stuff. Blackmail, maybe, life in the big city, for sure.

A good Dealer will certainly check for any TSBs that affect your car. Some will also test dive your car to check for anything out of the ordinary or some may say look for service sales opportunities. Personally I believe that it's a good idea to establish a good relationship with your Porsche sevice team. It doesn't hurt to have them in your corner should a gray area arise on a warranty claim.
