Default 15k service pricing

Just booked an appointment with my dealer for 15k service on '04 996. He said it would be $580, I was too stunned to even ask if this included the brake fluid flush. I was expecting $200 or so but suspect that price must be an oil change only. Is this price normal (I was going to say fair but thats a silly question)?

I could do this myself I think but am leaning toward useing the dealer while under warranty as they may notice issues and will fix little things I point out.

Thanks in advance for your input.

I paid $195.00 for just an oil change at Texas Porsche. They quoted a price of $400.00 if they added the cabin and air filter.

I called our other local dealer - $590. And the brake flush is add'l $120 for a total of $ 710. Holy crap is all I can say. I would do it myself but I can't replicate their hooking it up to the diagnostics and reading codes etc. At the price its expensive insurance but I don't see a way around it.

I was quoted $320 for 15k and $98 for the brake flush at a local independent in Charlotte....the dealer wanted $450 for the 15k

The 15k service is nothing but a glorified oil change and check up. You are getting robbed at $580.

I got mine done for $180 at RPM racing.

For clarification, the dealer offers PCA members a 15% discount on routine maintenance and brake service, therefore basic service cost is more like $500. I would do it all myself I think but for the paranoia factor while under warranty. Am I overly cautious here?

15K at local independent shop was $240.00. I changed the oil and air filter myself which dropped the price down to about $110.00. There is nothing to the 15K.

Your Porsche stealership is in full swing with your wallet, my friend.

You can do the 15K as a DIY for under a C-Note.....and that included a 6 of Guinness! Heck, I am doing my 60K over the winter break and that will cost me about $200 (add plugs an a poly belt to the 15K).

You don't need to read the code from the engine. If there is an issue, it'll display.

You can do it yourself and save. Your prices are within norm. Dealers have mark up and they offer loaner/rental cars - guess who pays at the end?

Well, RPM used to be in Huntington Station in Long Island... BUT, management have just recently split, so I'm not sure where the new place is.

I live in manhattan and it was about a 45 minute drive from the midtown tunnel.

Thanks for all the good input, I am going to a local shop instead where prices are reasonable. I like the peace of mind in having an independent run his eye over the car. Price will be around $240 which is tolerable.

Yeah, my 15K was $500 at my local dealer. They also joyrided the car for twenty some miles. I should have done it myself.

That's the worst. I had a CLK55 AMG I took to the dealer for an oil change at about 30K miles. They put over 70 miles on the car over the weekend.

Seventy miles is really out of control. They have some justification to drive it a few miles as part of a 15K or 30K check up, but they have no right to drive it at all for just an oil change. It's bad enough that they are probably 'beating' the cars when they drive them, but what if they get the car into an accident? Then the car's owner is then out whatever amount of money (possibly $5K) in diminished value (lower resale value) since the car was in an accident. The same dealer that crashed the car would probably say we have to give you less for this car as a trade in since it was in an accident.
