techart exhaust
I'm not sure if this is what you're getting at when you ask how loud the Techart mufflers are, but I just installed the Porsche sport exhaust (PSE) on my C4S and I think it's perfect. I had an M3 previously with a Dinan sport exhaust. It sounded great under hard acceleration, but it droned when cruising and it caused a cabin resonance at ~2500 rpm. In general, it was too intrusive when I didn't want it to be. The PSE screams under hard acceleration, yet is similar to the stock exhaust otherwise...a nice trick I think.

Thanks for the info. on the PSE.
I'm so disapointed with the standard exhaust, I'm searching for an exhaust that I can hear but that won't be so loud that I won't be able to speak to the person in the passenger seat.
My mechanic tried modifying the existing cans by opening them and removing 2 of the 3 baffles. Certainly an improvemnet but still too quiet.
From reading different threads and listening to sound clips I'm leaning towrds GHL's. I found an ad for the Techart mufflers but couldn't find any feedback on them.
My previous car was an e39 M5 with B&B exhaust, it sounded GREAT! The exhaust didn't add any performance but it completely changed the feeling of the car. When I sold it, I parted out all the mods, I couldn't believe how quiet it was with the stock exhaust.
Cheers,
Stan

Sorry my bad.
Firstly I'm a modaholic (I understand admitting it is the first step to recovery).. I've modded every car I've owned since I was 18. This is my fist P car, only driven BMW's before.
I'm driving a 6 speed '02 cab, Lapis/Metropol with a blue top. Nice factory options, Carrera lights, painted console, crested seats (not sport
), hard top, heated seats, lightronics, 3 spoke wheel. After driving it stock for a couple of months I've decided that it needs some mods. I just installed the X50 exhaust tips. I've just received my PSS9 kit and I'm in the process of ordering GT3 sway bars and drop links. Turbo front bumper cover is at the paint shop. I also picked up a set of Cargraphic 3 piece racing wheels!
I will snap some pics this weekend, before the mods go on.
Cheers,
Stan
My goodness!!! You are going to fit in quite nicely around here..........somebody who has a lighter wallet b/c of mods is one that understands the plight of the modaholic. Welcome Stan!
I had an E39 M5 just prior to my current C4S. Based only on what I read (every exhaust thread, I think) on M5board.com, I would have considered the B&B exhaust too loud for me. I was leaning towards the Tubi, but I ended up trading it in for the Porsche. If the B&B exhaust was just right for you, I suspect you may find the PSE a little mellow. Having said that, keep in mind that the M5 cabin is extraordinarily well insulated.

I love the sound of my Cargraphics, they rip with acceleration but are quiet on the highway. I have always thought the basic design of most of the lightweight aftermarket mufflers are the same, including Cargraphic, Fabspeed, GHL, Dansk, FVD etc. The PSE sounds great, a little quieter and a little heavier and more exspensive. Forget the bypass switch, leave it open. But you must get rid of the stock silencer. Will
