Default Completed Heated Seats DYI

I just finished installing a DYI for heated seats in my 00 C4 cab. Used a great DYI for Boxsters and adapted it for a 996. All original P parts, switches, etc. Haven't finished the documentation of the differences (some parts and locations) but if anyone is interested let me know.

Post on up. I would be interested as we are moving back to a cold climate and the car could use some heat

Thanks!

Yes, pics please. VA winters can be pretty cold...
What was the overall part cost and how long did it take you?

Dell - You'd better get heat in those seats. We have had a few nghts this week that were in the mid 30's. You'll freeze your a$$ off here!

Cost was about $650.00 for parts (mostly from Sunset Porsche), $50.00 in outside labor and 6+ hours of my time. It would have been quicker but I was doing other DYI at the same time. I am stilling working on documenting the differences between Dennis Vogel's Boxster heated seat install DYI and the work for a 996. But look at DennisVogel.com for the basic. The parts list varies slightly due to the switches being in the lower dash in a 996 (although in a coupe you could put them in the center console). I have the updated parts list done. I also got the shop manuals, dealer PET and 10/05 parts prices on CD from a source I would recommend. They were very helpful. Hope to have a DYI ready soon.

In the mean time I am enjoying the heck out of the heated seate.

Thanks for the update Dharn55. BTW, it is DIY (Do-It-Yourself) not DYI

But I can understand DYI if it stands for Do-Yourself-In

Default 99 C4

I am currently looking at a '99 C4 with no heated seats - this mod would be PERFECT for me. Does anybody know where the heated seat switches were in 99? Also, is it possible to add the missing consolde piece??

TIA

Jeff

Jeff - All the 996's I have seen have the switches at the bottom of the lower console. Yes this trim piece is available. Go to www.dennisvogel.com/boxster/heated seats for the basics of installing in a boxster. Then I can give you the changes for a 996, including an updated parts list, wiring information, etc. etc. Dennis Vogel's DIY if great, and I don't wnat to reinvent the wheel so I am just documenting the changes to do it in a 996, it is actually simpler as you don't have to remove the center console. I can also give direction on fitting the new cushions in the seats along with some additional pictures.
