I bought my first 911 in 1973, and have owned Porsches ever since (6 including 67 911, 69 911E targa, 76 911S targa, 79 928, 82 928S and now 2000 C4 Cab) and never really caught the modification bug, although I did a lot of the maintainence myself. Got my C4 in 2000 and still did not catch it. Then 3-4 weeks ago I found Rennlist and caught it good. First Smart Top, then received my B&M short shifter and Agency Power linkage on Friday from Vivid Racing (Thanks Dan) and installed it yesterday, what a difference! Today it is clear side marker lights modified to work with turn signals (Thanks to Kirby). Have on order parts for heated seats, dash spoiler switch, dash radiator fan and engine fan switches.
What have you guys done to me!! (and whats next?)
I am adapting Dennis Vogels instructions for installing heated seats in a boxster to a 996. Some minor parts differences. Will have the info available in the next few weeks.
What about pics and details of your need modded ride? We love our pics around here
Funny thing about Rennlist is the $18 membership fee is the cheapest mod you will do (highly suggest supportiing the site) and don't forgoet how much faster your car will be with all the weight savings in your wallet!
I purchased some Llyod Carrera 4 custom mats that I really like. I also got rid of the hideous airbag warning labels on sun visors (this info is on RennTech).
What is the "agency power linkage"? I am still new to mods myself. Thanks and enjoy!!
The agency power shift linkages repalce the plastic linkages which connect the shfter cables to the ***** on the shifter mechanism. The OEM are plastic, have a lot of flex/play in them and tend to wear quickly and sometimes break. Mine was quite worn and loose after 38,000 mi. Several groups make them. Combined with the B&M short shifter it tightens the whole shift linkage and shortens the throw of the shifter. Feels much better, little or no slop compared the the stock set up.
Yea the bug is a bastard! I remember the day I picked the car up from the dealer, I said I wouldnt do a thing, that lasted one day....and I mean one day.

Oops. I thought new (aluminum?) linkages were part of the B&M Short Shifter upgrade. Included in the package.
