Default Jack Points

Where are the best places to jack a 996 when not using the tire changing jack? Does anyone have any pictures?

It's the same as for a jack if you are using a lift. Under the four reinforced holes, behind the front tires and in front of the rear tires.
If you are using a regular jack, there is a hole in the bottom of the car, in front of the rear tire, maybe 1" in diameter, fairly close to the edge of the car. It's reinforced with metal. Place the jack plate there and you can lift both front and back wheels. Use a rubber top jack plate, or a plate with a metal cylinder that fits up into the hole. I use the rubber top as it works very well and is easy.

If you just have a metal cradle on your fllor jack, place an old hockey puck between it and the jacking point.... good luck

Jack only from the designed jacking points under the rockers. A good low profile floor jack works best as long as it has a large enough saddle to fit below the jacking points.

I did read the manual but I've read the manual on other cars and placed a regular jack at it's factory jack points as I jacked the frame started to bend. I though I'd ask first this time in hopes of getting pics before bending the frame again.

Just jacking with you man. Check out the jacking plates Ralph Boothe and others sell for the 996, they work very well unless you have an aerokit, a hockey puck works too.

When you slide the jack under the jacking points, whichever one you choose, just make sure that the jack plate/saddle is squarely under the jacking points and not the framework. Slide the jack under the points, and bend down and look for the actual point and make sure the point "seats" properly under the points otherwise you are likely to bend metal.
