2001 996 Headlight Bulb?

2001 996 Headlight Bulb?
I searched and found the post below... please help a novice with some advice...
One of my bulbs is out and I am on the road for two weeks. I would love to order this so that I can replace when I return. It is the bulb below the round primary bulb. When the ignition is off and the lights are on, one of my lights will be completely dark.
Thanks for the help. Any feedback as to which bulb would also be appreciated.

Check your owner's manual. It tells you how to pop out the headlight assembly and replace the bulbs. If you don't have a manual then go to the dealer and buy a manual! Depending on the type of headlights you have (halogen or Litronic), the city lights will either be a W5W (wedge) or an H6W bulb.
There are plenty of "white" W5W bulbs out there -- I used a pair of PIAA Super White W5W's when I had halogens. After I upgraded to Litronics my options were limited. If you want a nice match to the Litronics then get the Höen xenonmatch H6W. They've been out of stock for a while though, probably because they burn out after 4 months! If you don't mind a little yellow I recommend the Philips H6W BlueVision. They're "whiter" than the stock bulbs and last just as long or longer.

Hey Carolina,
Tell us the year of your car and whether you have the Litronic (Xenon) or Halogen (regular) headlamps. The parking light bulb (that small bulb) depends on the type of headlamps you have.

I was pretty sure the Litronic headlamp unit took H6W bulbs but I checked the Philips website's fitment guide and it says W5W (wedge). I am not so sure now. Do you have access to the car or is it back at home? It is easy to check as the H6W looks like a regular bulb with a metal base and the W5W has no metal base (it is a wedge bulb).
Can anybody else confirm that Carolina's 2001 with Litronics takes the H6W bulb?

Just remember that whatever you do, NEVER touch the bulb with your bare hands. Even the smallest amount perspiration/grease will measurably shorten its lifetime.
