What is a clutch on a 996 C2 supposed 2 be like?

On my European 2003 model 996 Targa, the clutch action is really sweet. Compared to my previous 911 (a 993 C4), it's much lighter and easier to use in potential right-leg killing situations like, say, traffic jams. Also, it seems to engage just right, close (but not too close) to the bottom of the range.
