Default 3.4l vs. 3.6l

I am torn between a 2001 w/ 34k miles for 41k or waiting until sept/oct. when prices soften and getting a 2002 for similar pricing (low 40k's). What do you guys think? The 2002 will also have warranty for at least a few months also but that would mean the hassle of not having a car for 3+ months. You think its too risky to buy the 2001 w/out warranty even though the car checks out with carfax, PPI, etc? The 2002 is nice no question but I'm not sure if its worth the hassle of waiting.....

Anybody want to put in there .02?

i own a 1999 and track it a couple of times a year. no winer driving mind you, but it does see rain and stuff on occasion. i have had NO problems with this car. it runs fine, is quite powerful, and if u lighten it up enuff you can catch those pesky 3.6liters .

the 3.6 has more power to start, stiffer chassis, better aerodynamics, and when you mod it, you get better bang for your buck from the mods, plus you get the awsome headlights which in my opinion are worth waiting for just for that reason. the 2k2 cars are better cars for the track because of this increase in rigidity.

if you can wait..i'd say wait, you'll have a better car although i don't know if you will really notice/appreciate the differences till you get to a track.
if you just want a fun car thats still plenty awsome for daily driving, the 1999 won't dissapoint

Lot of changes from '01 to '02. Go read the thread that should still be fairly recent about purchasing a cabriolet-Porsche vs Corvette.
