Thanks woodman!!
I bought her with a blown engine originally me and a friend were going to break her to sell the parts and make a bit of cash but when the guy dropped her off I just thought no way!! So I dropped the engine and box and stripped the original engine down. ( it would not turn on the crank , bad sign!!)
The engine had popped a core plug in the cylinder head and water got into the oil system, when I got into the bottom part of the engine i found that a rod had seized on the crank so the crank was toast and the rod plus scoring on a couple of the cylinders etc.
On a good note I actually made £1800 from the good parts , the heads some of the Pistons , one guy even bought a case half off me even though I told him they were a matched pair!!
I then bought a running engine from a local porsche breaker but decided to strip this down and totally go through it with new parts, it's been really enjoyable although a bit tight in my single garage!!!!
With a bit of time and patients I'm sure anyone can do it , you just need to be careful and not rush into anything before doing your research.
Check out 986fix on YouTube , it shows a guy fully rebuilding a boxster s engine, I actually used this to help me when I got stuck , it didn't give all the answers but was a help!!

Thanks Slakker!! Can't wait to properly get her on the road!! Had a sneaky drive around the block last week, almost couldn't stop at the bottom of the road because of surface corrosion on the disks, hope they clean up after a few miles!!
Also got a problem with idle , going to check the ICV tomorrow!!

Start a WTB (want to buy) thread in parts marketplace and bump it once a week. Also, PM the guys that have a "parting out 996" ad and see if they have one. GL.

Family is together this weekend to celebrate my brother's graduation. Some good cars and good people. I'll replace the potato picture with a real one when I get back to my laptop.

Took my girl to the Blue Ridge Parkway last weekend. ZERO traffic with wet roads, was a ton of fun
