Installed alum gauge faces today--only took an hour after I figured out how the electrical connections worked. GREAT MOD

Jeff - Thanks for posting the PICs! The gages look GREAT! I have silver faced gages in my '04 996. Fortunately for me the first owner ordered the car that way.

put the aluminium rings around them as well. i thought it would be too much, but i found the rings really added to the faces and the overall look.
Are the numbers and needles lit against a now-dark aluminum background?
If so, then I'd think there's an awkward situation in dim light (such as at dusk) when the face is darkening and the markings are lightening, such that you lose contrast and it's hard to read. This is my experience on a VW Passat (dog car).
