Default Extended Warranty???

My car has about 3 weeks left on the warranty. 2001, 22k miles. RMS has been replaced 3 times - the last time was about 3 months ago. The MAF and PCM have also been replaced under warranty. I plan on keeping this car a long time. Does Porsche offer an extended warranty? Should I go w/a third party? Or take my chances? I've heard third party's are around $2,500 for two years, this seems like a lot.

Porsche does not offer extended warranty, unless you buy the car second hand from them. I leased new, then bought the same car from them, and the Porsche extended warranty, an additional tw0 years or 100,000 miles, cost me $1500. There were discussions here in the recent past. Do a search.

I said it b4-I'll say it again. Buy the warranty! Check out the company offering it and if they check out and the warranty checks out, BUY IT! Pay the $2500 now and you can live with it. Be forced to pay $2500 for repairs down the road and you'll be kicking yourself. It's nice to know that you can be driving down the road and when the CEL comes on, it won't be costing you. Think or the piece of mind you have had while driving your car knowing it's under warranty.

I bought the East Care Blue (apparently thru Ford) ext. warnty. from my audi dealer
(Laurel of westmont) as it was the same plan offered by the local p dealer (Napleton) but they gave it to me for several hundred less. It adds an extra 48 mos to a total of 60K (have 36k now) for 2100.00 w/ the mandatory inspection included. -I needed an engine replacement last year with 3 months left on the factory wrnty, which sealed the deal on getting an extension.

That's sounds better rxinc. I look at it like a gamble though, $2100 is almost 3 more RMS replacements. I really don't think it will fail 3 more times. On the other hand, a new motor is $8k. I have 9 more months on this RMS and I'd think that after 3 replacements Porsche would goodwill it even if it was beyond that.

If you have had 3 replacements, i'd be even more inclined to get an extended warranty

if you have had 3 RMS replacements i suspect the extended warranty company would exclude RMS from coverage.

If Porsche hasn't goodwilled your engine after 3 replacements, what makes you think that they will after 4!!!
