performance software/flash
Just sold a 993 that had a perf CHIP that was just plug and play. BUT, I assume my 99 996 needs what you guys are calling a "flash". Where can I get the upgrade near atlanta? Also what is the best. I keep seeing you guys talk about evo, but it does not look like they have a location near me. Can any software be sent to a local shop here for loading via laptop????

Thanks. Anyone else? Also, my car seems pretty quick, quicker than my modded 993 which had about 300 hp. So, based on my "butt dyno" this 996 feels like it has more than the 300 stock. How can I tell if it has already been flashed or not? Besides a dyno of course.

Ok! Now we are getting somewhere. Looks like I can do the GIAC here locally up in Marietta Ga. The others I gotta travel for. So- back to part of my original question. Which is best, do they differ in torque delivery vs. hp delivery, more high end, low end, etc??????

I am testing a Revo map on my 00 996. You get five hours of driving time. It takes about five or six hard accelerations to train the new map and then it does feel different. My initial impressions is smoother power distribution throughout the curve (and maybe more power). I'll come back with more impressions over the weekend. I think I will know the difference when it reverts back to the original mapping.

its not because porsche didn't go to drive by wire until midway through 2000. by the way, based on your location, i bet you investigated it at Hersheimer (sp?). we are living in newport beach now and that is where I did it.

I really wish people would get this right. Drive by wire started in 99's on c4's and was then standard on ALL in 00. The only 996 that didn't have the drive by wire is the 99 c2.
