Haven't even gotten my car yet, and am thinking about mods. Geez, will the insanity never end. -
In any event, have been doing some research on this board, and understand that if you want to stick with Porsche suspension upgrades for a 996 C4S, you currently have three options. I bear in mind that the stock suspension on a US C4S is the US M030 suspension, which is otherwise an option for a US C2.
(1) RoW M030
- Drops the car 20mm front and 10 mm rear (0.79 inches front, and 0.39 inches rear) from stock setup
(2) X73
- Second most aggressive setup
- Drops the car 20 mm all around (0.79 inches front, and 0.79 inches rear) from stock setup
- Seems to offer a nice compromise between comfort and responsiveness
(3) X74
- Most aggressive set-up, comparable to the GT-3
- Drops the car 40 mm front and 30 mm rear (1.57 inches on front and 1.18 inches rear) from stock setup
- Some complaint of harshness of ride, although most seem to enjoy
I've gotten varying stats on how much the drop is for the X73 and X74 packages, so any confirmation - or clarification - would be much appreciated.
Any other thoughts would be great, as well as (before and after) pics of people who have installed either of the three suspension options.
I recognize that PSS9's are also a favorite, but am disinclined to go with them because they are not OEM.
Many thanks.

I've been looking into this too and I think you've mixed things up a bit. There are only two factory options, ROW and X73. The X74 is for the C2.
And I believe the X73 drops it 20mm lower than the ROW setup, for total drop of 40mm front and 30mm rear.
I've been debating what to get and I think I've settled on the ROW. Like you, I'm inclined to go with OEM.
Good luck,
-Scott

i just added the ROW M030 and it is perfect. just a tad lower so you get that aggressive style look but not too low that you are scraping everything. in fact I have yet to scrape since adding it 3 wks ago(I also have the GT3 front end which is more prone to scraping). However, the best part is the handling. looking back it was like driving a boat(little exaggeration but you get the point!) cornering is unbelievable and there is zero nose dip/rise. the ride is only slightly harsher - may just be my imagination though

Upgrading to X73 is the single most significant upgrade one can effect on a C4S....I regret not doing it sooner.
BTW - avoid PSS9 on the /C4STurbo chassis....search 6speed for a complete description as to why this is less than optimal
this is a decent starting point

There actually is a 20mm lowering suspension for the C4S, includes shocks/struts, springs and motor mounts, it is essentially the euro 030suspension. The x73 has a completely different part number and has different springs and struts. It also includes motor mounts. The two are similar but different, some dealers are selling them as a '20mm lowering kit' now for around 1700$, be sure of what you are getting the x73 has a different pn and is priced similar. There is a thread on renntech that details the different pn's etc. Be careful, I'm going through this right now.

- The US C4S comes with the US M030 suspension
- More aggressive suspension options for the C4S include RoW M030 and the X73 package
- The RoW M030 package lowers the front +/- 20 mm and the rear +/- 10 mm
- The X73 package lowers it by a further 20 mm all around, making the fronts +/- 40 mm lower, and the rear +/- 30 mm lower (1.57" front and 1.18" rear)
- ScottW and C4S Surgeon, have you gentlemen decided what to go with. What's the thought process. And when are you planning to install?

I'm doing the x73, if I'm going to replace everything it will be x73, not just a lower (maybe) version of mine. I'm ordering it within the next two weeks and will post before-after-during pics.

These are all helpful comments / threads guys. Here's what I'm gathering:

Talking about US market:
- M030 is a sport suspension optional for C2
-C4S has a setup similar to the Turbo, but with slightly different rear springs and shocks, due to different engine weight
- X73 is the only Sport suspension option for the C4S
However, as all the suspensions in the US are higher that the ROW, a good approach for the C4S, would be to go for the ROW OEM C4S suspension, that should be 1cm lower in the rear and 2 cm lower in the front.
Thats the setup that I want to do (Change the US springs for the ROW C4S springs) but I am not able to find them here in the US.
