Has my car been lowered?
I have a Certified Pre-owned car. I've read alot of threads about people lower the ride height of their cars. I'm starting to think that my car has been lowered too. How can I tell for sure? Thanks in advance.

can really tell from that pic. If it is certified from Porsche the only possibility would be that the previous owner put X74 on. They will not cover any non porsche parts or anything that might be effected by them(CD jumps, rattles and such).
Ask the techs at the dealer they will know.

X74 is for 02+ cars. His only factory option would be M030 (US or RoW). Two ways to find out (1) check out the options sticker to see if the car came with M030 and (2) if it was done after the fact you can tell by looking at the shocks and springs. If they are clean you will see colored dots on them denoting which type you have.

Isn't measuring the easiest thing to do? Stand a yardstick next to the front wheel arch, and see how high the top of the arch is from the ground. Repeat for rear. Stop by the dealership and repeat the processs on a standard car. My stock 02tt is 26 and 3/4" front and rear. My understanding is that the ROWsprings lower the front by 1" and the rear by about half that. AS

Nope. A simple measurement wouldn't be accurate nor would it answer any question about if his car has a lowered suspension. The ONLY way to be certain is to visually examine the shocks and springs to see if he has stock suspension, USM030, RoWM030, or aftermarket.
His car could very well sit a bit lower than a car with the stock suspension b/c of sagging over the years. Not sure what kind of life his shocks and springs have seen before him???

Thanks guys. The picture is part of my signature. It's not meant to be a photo showing ride height. Sorry any confusion.
I looked in the front wheel well and saw what looks like a pink/orange dot and a blue dot on the spring. Is that the standard configuration? I checked the option list and nothing came up indicating a different suspension. The car only has 30k miles. I bought it with 11k and the ride height appears to be the same as when I bought it. Do the dots on the spring indicate a different suspension? Thanks for the help.

Thanks guys. I'll check it out and report back.
I'm a former DC resident myself, NO VA. I loved the area but don't miss the traffic. Here you can really "drive" your car, if you know what I mean. No radar detector ban or speed traps, and very few police on the highway. The way it should be. Thanks again.

Programmatore,
I just noticed that the article is for a C2. I've got a C4. I read the article and it states that chart is just for C2s. Do you have anything for C4s? I went out and checked the front spring again and it's definitely pink and blue. I'm going to ask Loren if he has any info. Thanks.

Found it. If you have the RoWM030 on a 2000 C4 you would have red/lilac/silver dots. The dots you have listed state you have standard.
Time for a new mod???
