Can anyone tell me if this is a stainless sport exhaust for a 996 or just a stainless exhaust for a 996?
Also, if you know what car this cat bypass is for, I would appreciate it.

Some older P-cars yes. Not sure on the 996. I don't have my PET with me, but if I'm not mistaken the 996 part number start with 996.xxx.xxx.xxx Pretty sure that may be an exhaust for a 993 or 964.

That is a standard exhaust muffler for the older 3.4 engine. You can tell by the caps where the sport exhaust bypass pipe goes. The 3.6 Mufflers have recessed caps on them. These mufflers are not for 3.6 engines.
BTW, all of the 996 mufflers polish up real nice.

Dansk makes sport mufflers for the 996 that have an identicle stamped box as shown. So, yes they could very well be Dansk sport mufflers for a 996. Gillet and Eisenmann are also OEM suppliers.
