Default Brakes starting to squeak

'04 996, little brake squeak starting - is there a quick way to get rid of it?

Also, off topic Atlanta area - saw a 996 coupe Saturday on N. Fulton country road just off Birmingham Highway in Metallic Forest Green. First time I've seen the color - loved it on the 996. Wonder why there aren't more of them?

Yes, "change them"

No really take a look at them to see if they are wearing if so then refer back to my first comment. If not you can always pull them and apply the no squeak stuff.....

Sorry, I can't offer a "quick way to get rid of it".......

I'm not sure how much wear you have on your brakes, but take a look and see if it's time for a change. If not, one of the best ways to get rid of a Porsche squeeky brake...is to brake! And brake hard. Get her up to about 50mph and hit it. This is providing you don't have to change them. Pcar brakes are reknown for making noise.

Thanks, they don't need replacing as car only has 8k on it. I think the problem is too much driving in congestion and I need to take it out and thrash it this weekend. Tough duty!

Yeah whenever mine start to squeek, I take her out and pound on the brakes a little and clears them right up. Usually dust or build up.

Learn something new about these cars every-day.....

I'll have to try that next time.... for now the usual 100+ sprints will keep my brakes pretty well tuned!

The pound then method does work. I follow the pagid directions for bedding- go on the freeway and get up to 90 then use 1/2 pressure and come down to 60 while being careful of people behind and around you. Do this 3,4 times and they will be fine. Also is the car filthy? If the rims are coated and dirty they will be more apt to squeel, so if it is simply that Wash the rims but spray out the calipers until they produce clear water-
