Got my 996 back from the wheel adjustment. Wow! Feels like a new car. The mechanic told me that it had toe out on both axles. We put Toe in on the fronts and rears. Camber and caster values were good.
Toe out on the fronts makes the car unstable at speeds but quick on turns. Toe in makes the car more stable at speeds and now the direction feels lighter...??? Most importantly the rear seems to "roll" in the curve better. I also feel more "secure" with how the rear behaves, and it is easier to power out of a curve.
Anyone feels like giving a crash course on what to expect from the different settings Toe in vs Toe out on front and rears?
Toe out on the rear is a recipe for disaster as it will cause the back end of the car to steer around the front, as you compress the suspension the toe out increases as well. Not a good situation. Toe out in the front will help the car turn in (up to a point) but will make it very darty and twitchy.
