Default Digital Oil Gauge Question

Does anyone know how low is low when you drop one bar on the gauge? Sometimes it's down one when I start it cold, others not, yet when it's low (down one) and drive it and park say 3-4 hours, it's back up to the top. Lately it's been down one to none, or temporarily down to then back to one? Any thoughts and if it's down by one bar or two, how much do you add? Had Mobil 1 synthetic oil change around 2,000 miles ago. Any help appreciated.

There was a great article in Excellence about the little gauge and how it works. That is all there is in the 997. No dip stick.

Thanks. I'll check the article out and also look at the dip stick. I appreciate that!
