Default How to Keep Weatherstripping Black?

What do you use to keep your weatherstripping looking black? Mine looks faded in some parts.

Also, what about the other black trim exterior pieces? Some are showing wear. i.e. front vents by intercooler, etc. Is there a product to apply that would bring out the black again?

Thanks,
Adam

Dielectric silicone grease used sparingly is what most OEMs spec for keeping rubber molding / window molding soft and supple .

Yeah, I've tried that but find it attracts dirt/dust.

Any other ideas?

Meguires makes a rubber and vinyl treatment that seems to work OK without leaving it wet to attract dirt.

I use a product from Meguiars called "Endurance". It is billed as a tire dressing, but it works great on black trim. I have found that on the black trim as well as the tires, that after it is applied, it needs to be wiped down to remove the excess. After it is rubbed down, it does not feel greasy or slippery, and does not attract dust.

I've tried a lot of different products and the best product on black trim is Vinylex. I had some strange spotting on the trim around the windows of my 996. Nothing seem to actually take care if it until I used Vinylex.

Aerospace 303 the best I've used, vinylex a close second, on any rubber or plastic. Meguir's Endurance seems to greasy for anything but tires IMHO.

Where do you purchase Aerospace 303? I can Vinylex at the local auto store here.

Thanks,
Adam

Have you tried the BMW lubricant? Toolpants at one time posted the exact name of this product. I have never tried it but have found his posts to be highly accurate and of value!--Good luck

Vinylex is awesome. It protects and does not attract dust.
