Its the plastic they used.
If you ordered full leather as an option, you wont hear anything.

You're probably right. My current car has full leather, the old one didn't.

Yeah my 2001 987 S had full leather and not one interior squeak except maybe sometimes the cab top which is to be expected, but this C2 is a noise nightmare.
I have sprayed half a can of very expensive dry teflon and 2 complete sheets of black adhesive felt cut up and placed in strategic areas. It is much better but still really bad. Now my two side rear windows are crackling and squeaking.
