Default How often do you change your oil?

I've got a 2005 C4S. The dealer told me that I can go 15k miles without a change. Should I wait that long?

MY dealer said it can go 15,000 but they recommend every 7500. I did it at 7500 and the oil was very clean. I will continue to do it every 7500. (with mobile 1)

For those that don't do the oil change themselves and do it more frequently than 15k - do you use a Porsche dealer to do the intermediate change or something like Jiffylube?

My interval is 7.5K like Tom's and I do the oil as a DIY. This is a VERY SIMPLE DIY. Not to mention the cash you can put back in your pocket.

My 996 TT has over 200'000km (124'000 miles), and I've changed the oil every 20'000km (12'400 miles). If PAG says it's the way to do it, why do it more often? Do you change your brake pads when they're half-thick?
Greetings,

IMHO oil change intervals are dependant on the type of driving you'll been
doing and the mileage you'll accumulate. I.E. if you drive long distance
computes, for instance 50 miles each way at freeway speeds, then changing
oil at 15K is fine, but if your driving is short trips at varying speeds(stop &
go) then you'll need to change the oil more often. The general rule of
thumb is change the oil at least once a year if you don't reach the
factory recomended interval.

I change my oil every fall just before I put it away for the winter. I put about 5K miles a year on the car. It is probably overkill but it is easier to change oil than engines. Remember Porsche only needs to get past the warrenty period I intend to keep my car probaly 10 years. YMMV

it also depends on weather conditions...
Pierre's car ( in fact photos of the car) were taken at a -7 degrees clcius.....and of course this temperature has nothing to do with Dubai's temp,......

i.e oil change intervals , will be shorter at higher temps countries....

Here is my personal philosophy with reagrds to oil. If I run my car hard (which I tend to do) I change the oil, at the most, every 5000 miles. If I have a DE or Track weekend, I change it when I return. Simple preventive medicine. Oil is the life blood of the engine. Changing it often is not a bad thing at all. Just my .02.

I agree with Pierre. Time ago I asked my Porsche Dealer to change it before time and he insisted that it did not make any sense.

Do you guys know any link to a DIY post. I just want the torque setting and other small details on how to do it properly.

Ciao,

Marc
