Default Whatst aftermarket speakers do you use in your dash?

There;s little space for choice in the front dash for 4" (100cm) speakers and components. I know about Focal K2 Power 100KP's. These have very small voice coild magnets for the output and quality. But was wondering what else is used out there. Note, I am only interested in dash mount speakers.

I've had quite a few in mine. A/D/S, Eclipse, Focal. (Out of the three, the Focal was my favorite)I have finally settled and am QUITE pleased with my Image Dynamic speakers. www.imagedynamicsusa.com Competition quality, amazing sound. I'm running them all around. Except in the rear, you really don't need them.

I used the Focal 100V2s Polyglass, I've been very happy w/them. It is a tight fit.

Can anyone make a recommendation for a speaker that can be placed in the door(s) that would require little or no modification to the grill or door?

If your doors have the subs in them the Focal 5WS.

You can use a lot of 4" speakers, but you will have to cut and modify the plastic grille to make them fit.

I used JLAudio XR653 CS in the front. A slight modification is needed in the door panel. Here is the link.

I have cdt audio separates in the dash, they sound nice but lack mids. How is the mid on the focal if you are not using door speakers? (I have none)

Thanks guys. Got a bit OT though. I am talking about the 4" front dash mount speakers and not the door speakers. The links to imagedynamics don't show any 4" drivers and the jlaudio XR643's are 6.5" drivers. So getting back on topic, are the Focal's the only 4" (quality) speakers that will fit the 996 dash grill (I realise some modification is required to silicone them in place)?
Again, I stress, I am only interested in the front dash 4" speakers.

Hey Berny,

Car Audio Innovations (I think they are a Rennlist sponsor) carries Focal. I talked to Rod a while back and he recommended the Polyglass 165 V3. It is a 3-way seperate system with a 5.25" woofer for the doors (the system comes with a 6" woofer but Rod has Focal's blessing to substitute the smaller speaker to fit the 996 doors), and a 4" mid-range and tweeter for the dash.

Cheers,

Rod designed my system and sent me all the components with install instructions. He's a great guy to work with.

They are just a little bigger then the stock subs. 5" v. 5.25" They still fit in the stock holes, you have create new screw holes and you can see from my pic. add silicon around the edge to make sure it's air tight.

SPR - The focal component dash speaker set up is a full range system. The mids and highs are incredible. The door speakers are subs, so you just set up your crossovers accordingly.

Right, My cdt's are full range but the mids seem a bit hollow to me. However I am pretty spoiled with what I am used to.

A nice discount place to pick up components is:
www.woofersetc.com
No affiliation but they're cheap.
