Who told you that? I have removed and reinstalled all 6 injectors with no engine movement.

OK, it does not really need to be dropped, but it's easier to drop the engine to change the injectors which is why many will drop the engine.

I guess it would be easier, but I don't unnderstand why anyone would go to all that effort when it isn't necessary. Maybe that's why some places charge so much to install one. You can replace the injectors in less than an hour sitting on a chair behind the car. I would suspect it would take longer than that to lower the engine and put it back up. Maybe my long arms help.

99,
Have you had a chance to track yours yet? Any probs at the track, one guy I saw had a bad oil leak from one of the lines?

Chris, I never track the car. I haven't tracked a car since my life at Limerock. Sometime go to the drag strip for some legal fun, but that's it. I hve no probelms with leaking or burning oil. The only oil line that could leak (that was installed with the SC) is the supply line from the back of the engine to the SC and then the drain line from the SC to the engine block. I did brak the oil injector fitting on the SC a few months ago after I removed it to clean it. I busted it off by tightening too much. That was 1 day before I left with the car for Vegas. I had a new fitting shipped overnight and installed it "snuggly".

The SC would cause the oil lines to leak by itself anyway, since it has no effect on oil pressure. Probabably just an improperly tightened connection somewhere.

Don't know. I haven't run a 1/4 mile with the SC. ( in earnest) I run 0 -100. Best time was 8.93 seconds on my street tires at full preasure. I just do it for tuning purposes. I am not concerned (don't even care about official times) as I just like to see whether mods I am doing are helping or hurting my bottom end power and speed. I could guess, but I could also guess at the HP I have, but it would only be a guess. A buddy at Great Lakes takes care of me. I have always tuned my cars for 0 - 100 so that is a good benchmark for me.

My biggest fear is not the power I can get out of the engine, but what the power could do to the drivetrain. I purposely use street tires at high PSI becasue I want the wheels to be the breaking point and not something else twisting. The car sucks off the line, but I have reagualrly gotten 4 second 0 -60 even without the best of traction conditions. This is in nice criip temps too. The colder weather hurts the traction, but it seems to more than make up for the loss once I get going.

I may be tempted some day to lower the pressure in the rear tires to 15 - 20 psi and really let the engine rip, but I will have to convince myself that I don't mind buying a new clutch or maybe something even more expensive afterwards. I just like to have fun with the car. The are so many muscle cars. Porsche Turbo's and ricers around this area. It kinda fun to pull away from them in my "sleeper" of a 996. And that's what life is about...having fun.

You should seriously take it to a track just to see for yourself what the car is capable of, I'm sure there is one similar to limerock out there. I love that track BTW, my car eats up limerock!

I would have to learn to drive the track again. I also don't have the guts I used to have and that would probably cause me to make some serious mistakes at the track. Everytime I am out driving, I ask myself how many times I would have died in this car if I owned it when I was 18, and was, as all 18 year old drivers think---the best driver on the road.

I remember the controlled 4 wheel slides through the corners (and sometimes not so controlled) and trying to slide even more in the next corner. Now, I am more concerned about making sure that I DO NOT slide, which proves that I have gotton too cautious in my driving. It may be my age, maybe because I have a family, or just maybe I am too lazy to learn again, but whatever it is, it woud be extremely dangerious for me to track the car thinking this way.

BTW: I loved Limerock and used to go all the time cuz I lived close to it. But the last time I tracked a car was in 1977....so you can see that it was a long long time ago. I grew up tracking cars in corn fields which was a lot of fun.

I love the SC...Love the Power!

Here a picture of me doing my famous 180 at Thunderhill. Never under estimate the power of the SC.
