Fred, I agree with the fatherly advise but question your advise on the 99 996. The early ones had a few nagging issues that were most likely fixed under warrantee. If the TSBs were performed I can't think of any reason not to buy a 99. Especially a later one. I might be biased. Mine has been great.

I have to agree with fast1, Your write-up on the 996 v 993 is one of the top that I've read - and I read many before I purchase my 996. Very to-the-point

The reason I went with the 996 was the interior (too dated in the 993), the cab top (tucks away better), the improved climate control (more heat with H2O) and the fact that I wanted to drive it daily for the first couple of years.
