Default Noisy rear tires

I have a 2003 C4S. Lately it's quite noisy in rear at around 15 - 25 MPH. The original Pirelli tires are on it with 13,000 miles. They are getting worn. Would this be a typical problem with Pirellis or doed it need an alignment?

Anyone else have this problem? Thanks

Congrats on getting more than the average miles out of your rear tires. Take a look at the inside half of the back tires and see how bald they are (or radial coming through) My guess is it's time for back tires. I only get a maximum of 10,000 out of mine. The more highway driving you do, the faster they burnup.

Bet there gone. Check if the inside treads have a choppy pattern. One tread high and the next worn low. Thats what makes the loud noises.

Interesting.

My 2002 C2 came with Conti Sport Contact2s and I got 28K out of the rears before I replaced them with Michelins , and the front's were only half worn. The car has 36K on it and it is all highway driving.

Why do you think you got such crummy milage out of your tires?

I just checked them. The inside tread is rather worn compared to the outside treads. I just drove it from Vegas to Nashville, that's when I began to notice the noise. Why do the back tires wear so much on the inside? I had a 993 C4 and they didn't wear that way. Different suspension?
Thanks again

If you really want to confirm that they are worn, take in out in the rain and do some high speed sprinting. When your tail end starts to feel like its wobbling, it's because it is. Those worn inside halves of the back tire just love to surf! If you never drive in the rain and the roads are decent, you can drive them for 20,000 miles or more sometimes. The only thing you'll notice is that they are a little noisy.

You can buy tires that will last a lot longer, but you won't get the traction from them because the compound is much harder. Better traction tires have softer compound and will wear much faster. Typically you change your front tires either every 2nd or 3rd time you change your back one.
