For 2 or 4 calipers? New or used? Yes 986 S and 996 rotors and calipers are the same.

If it's for both pairs, that's a very good price.

Why??? There is no improvement in braking so why would you spend the money. IMO if you are gonna spend any kind of money get some Turbo brakes and make it worth changing the system.

Those kits have some special high temp brake paint. No clearcoating necessary. I think the kit also comes with the some special brake cleaner, promoter, etc. If you don't want to paint it yoruself, just get some body shop to do it. THey certainly won't charge you $900 bucks for it!!!

986 and 986 S are NOT the same rotors and calipers unless they changed it. Originally the 986 rotors were smaller and not cross drilled. The 986 S has the same brakes as the standard 911

$900 for whole set four calipers seems good price not something special though, and from the price given they should be used. but thats fine having in mind thay are in good con and they do not need ANY refurbishment, (you could refurbish yours...in that case)

986 S calipers fr & rears are identical with 996 C2 not C4.
i.e. direct replacement...

concerning refurbishment:

try tech9 in United Kingdom

930 Motorsport, Unit 23, Slutchers Lane, Warrington.
Tel: 00447000 930930
The Porscheshop, 26 Craven Court, Mill Lane, Winwick Quay, Warrington.
Tel: 00441925 653911

ask for colin, great guy.

they do paint any caliper at any colour wanted at a very reasonable price. i think something around 50-80 pounds sterlings per caliper. cannot remember excactly.

i have done mine by myshelf on my 964, they did look nice for couple of years then they did need to be redone....
try to do it proffesionally

concerning turbo-4S or GT3 calipers ( two different possible conversions i.e differnt parts for each set of calipers) you really need only for the front set-rears direct fitment:

996 341 157 91 (1) L wheel carrier
996 341 158 91 (1) R wheel carrier
999 053 042 07 (2) wheel bearing
996 341 131 90 (2) tension bolt
986 331 661 20 (2) bearing cover
986 331 605 20 (2) wheel hub
996 361 605 90 (2) 5mm spacer

If you use 5 mm spacers, you also need longer bolts that are 5mm longer.

You can keep the anti-theft as one short bolt for each wheel.
The price for the wheel bolts that are 5mm longer You need 4 x 2 = 8 bolts.

Gert from www.carnewal.com can provide with all the above parts. GREAT GUY.

but i have a feeling you will be spending time and money for almost nothing more than looks on every situation.

project 1 996 to 986 S: only for looks some money spent.
project 2 996 to TT-4S or GT3: 95% looks 5% improoved performance -which compare to money spent is nothing since you will need in total $4000+ parts + labour
project 3 996 Blk to 996 red: only looks the least pos money spent.

project 4 RUF 6-piston caliper kit only for the front though almost same price as project 2 which is for 4 calipers though.

it is up to you....

i have bought 2 months ago a 4S kit, i did found out that i needed more parts, i did send them back and bought GT3 front bumper+sideskirts.
car look even better now, more agressive and with black calipers....

i didn't do anything with the calipers....

anyway enjoy your thoughts....and share your opinions.....we are always here to help you...

You could get your current calipers powder coated for less than $900.

Buy the new set (powdercoated red) and then sell your old ones on eBay. Expect to pay $1000 on average for a nice set of new ones, then sell the old ones for about $500. That way you are not without the car any length of time.

Man, talk about diverging opinions. I think a grand for a purely cosmetic brake upgrade is a lot. I'd drop that on an exhaust or a gt3 body kit over red brake calipers. But alas, if everyone thought the same, the world wouldn't be so intersting. YOu can probably find used turbo brakes that are red for a little more than 1K. not sure how much more though but at least that way you will get aesthetic and performance improvements.

^ www.911pcar.com is a porsche auto wrecker in LA...u can get red turbo brakes for around 900-1200 depending on wear/tear/condition..
check them out.

not sure whether ur want to add more unsprung weight to ur car tho...the stock brakes and pagid oranges should give u all the stopping power u need.

if u just want the paint...goto a dealer or someone and get the heat resistant PORSCHE decals and paint em red with caliper paint..
