Default Calling all 996 you Targa owners

My mind's made up, my next 911 will be a 996 Targa. I've lusted after this car for too long to be denied

But this won't happen for a few months yet. So I intend to put my waiting time to good use and start dreaming about what my future 996 Targa my look like.

And that's where I need your help. During my time on this forum, I've come across 996 Targas that have been modified by their owners. By modified, I don't mean tuned of course. I'm not talking sacrilege here I'm saying things like better wheels or a different exhaust...

So if any of you guys have nice photos of your rides that you're willing to share so that I can use them as wallpaper and make myself sick with anticipation every day, I would be really grateful.

If photos are too big to post, please PM me.

Thanks for helping me make the wait more bearable.

The Targa is a great car - I owned a 993 Targa and a 996 Targa; nice compromise between coupe and convertible. Here's 3 nice pics from Porsche, and one of mine after putting on the BBS's; can't see the PSE on mine, but its there. Good luck!

elsiesvg - Congrats on your decision, I have had my 03 Targa for one year and I truly love this car, the Targa is so rare, I have yet to see one in Northern New Jersey ant Mahattan NYC. I love to drive with the Glass Panel Roof out at night, regardless of the weather (except rain) and the natural light that enters via the Glass panel with the UV protection is too dam cool. Let me know how I can help you, I have made various modifications to my Black Beauty -

18 GT Wheels 4" rear lip
Fabspeed Exhaust
Fabspeed Cold Air Kit
Flared Rocker Panels
Carbon Fiber Bar Cover

Good choice. I love the Targas.

As far as appearance goes, I would recommend the flared rocker panels. I think they make ALL C2's look better, and the Targa is no exception. And they're easy to add if they didn't originally come on the car. I'll try to dig up my before and after pics later today and post.

Your choice on wheels of course, but the 18" Carreras look great on the car.

To Jim, thanks for that photo. I love those wheels, they give the car real character without being OTT.

To Moogle, the Targa is still available new in France, but I'm being second-hand anyway.

To rjmdad996, I've read several of your posts and I've followed your mods. Your car looks great! Could you post some different shots please (side, back, interior)?

Thx.

Sure Thing, Do you have a e-mail address I can forward them to ? I have many detail pictures, inside and out. Trust me, you will love the Targa. Like my wifes says, "What's Not To Love"? ...

The most recent word is "No Targa for 997 Platform" Due to slow sales.

Q. for Targa owners:

Does the Targa glass celing rattle? Do you, in practice, feel the extra weight up top?

NOPE - No rattling here, as for the extra weight, judging from my C2 and the targa, I feel no diffrence. So far so DAM GOOD.

P.S. The Targa is still 184lbs lighter than the C4S (as per Prosche Website)

yes but the targa is still 70 something pounds heavier than the base C2, and most of that weight is at the TOP of the car, which in terms of center of gravity, is the worst place to have that

in any case, ive driven both the targa and the 996 C2 back to back, coulnd't feel a difference.

Not so, apparently there will be a 997 Targa.
