Default switch design

hi all,
i will be installing over the next weeks the switch to oparate my garage door, like kirby did in his 996.

http://gallery.rennlist.com/gallery/albur17

my car is a 996 C2 01 i.e the 2 switches behind the ash-tray are blank. thinking of installing 2 switches, one for each door of my house and country-side house.

as far as i know, there are some different design of switches.the ones i know are:
PSM
PSE
door lock
rear window heater
2 X electric window
2 X heated seats

the one that kirby used

Targa Roof Switch 996 613 119 10 A05

so that leaves me with 2 blank positions on the dashboard and 2 behind the ash-tray.

could anyone provide photos with other designs of a switch?

thanks

Here's mine. I used the Targa top switch. It comes matte finished so I shot it with some clear lacquer to match the other switches. Yeah, I know, it's dusty but I haven't have time to detail.

Hi Tom, I like what you have done. Who made the gauge trim kit? The one I bought is made by "Styling" in Denmark but does not look as if will fit as nicly as yours. It was purchased from a Porsche dealer. Thanks, Dave

Rear wiper switch and the footwell switch. They come on matte or gloss finish. Also, I think there is a way to use one switch for two remotes. Each remote would have a wire (ground I guess) to a single terminal. Then each of the two other terminals would have a single wire to each remote for the power to that remote. Some electrical guy can explain it better than me.

Good tip on painting the switch. We have older Boxster owners with gloss switches who want to use switches for things that only come in matte, such as the spoiler switch and the targa switch.

Big6Dad,
Thanks, the guage kit was actually made by me. It's not for the faint of heart but what I did was disassemble an original cluster cover (you have to gently break it), painted it to match the aluminum trim, and reassembled it. I am very happy with it. I didn't like the add on one because to me they look too "bulky". At the same time, I did the trim strips on the dash.

Harris

You can control multiple doors on one switch, if you needed to.

Yes, I helped a friend do his. One side opens his front gate, and the other opens the garage.

If you can remove the black plastic trim rings and the clear plastic lenses from the rings, to paint the rings, then you are good or lucky. All that stuff is glued together and if you screw up there are no replacement parts.

Default switch pics

porsche switches

this link has pics of most of the available switches, make sure you specify matte verses glossy when you order them. Hope this helps.

If you have the matte switches, the targa top button looks like a garage door opening and closing. I didn't see it on the list, but I know there's photos of it out there (kirby?).

Try the Power Doorlock switch, that comes in Matte and Gloss. I used that before I found the Targa Switch
