Default Bilstein HD/H&R vs. ROW 030

Which is the better setup guys... the Bilstein HD + H&R springs or the ROW 030...?

I don't plan to track the car much... maybe 10%.

thx

x74 and m030 have the same uprated anti-roll bars, but allows a greater range of camber adjustments. it is lower, but besides improving mech. grip, it looks so cool. i saw a comparo in a german rag that pitted a 3.4 x51/x74 996 against a mk I gt3. their times at hockenheim were very close.

Expect the H&R to sit about as low. They lower about 1 inch to 1.25 inches. The X74 is suppose to be 40mm which is about 1.5 inches so the difference is 0.25 inches. As far as which one is better between H&R and M030 the H&R has a slightly stiffer rate so they will be a little better. The sway bars do make up some of that difference. My suggestion is the M030 if you don't want it too low. Given the same bars the H&R has the slight advantage, but I'm not sure how will it compare to the X74.

I spent a LOT of time analyzing suspensions for my 04 Targa before trading it and, despite concerns about low ride height in L.A., I finally decided to go with X74. Look at Gert's site and the comments from other owners on his site (carnewal.com) (most comments quoted from rennlist, I think). I also had a long talk with Gert before deciding (super knowledgeable guy!). Gert also has new pricing on X74, I think its E1,595 including shipping now. I had it on order but canceled when I got the 997S.

The std sport suspension on the c4s, is that akin to the 030 or x74?

The lowering you get with the M030 is pretty minimal...

The X74 package puts it closer to GT3 ride height.

I would go with either the M030 or the X74 simply because they are factory matched shocks, springs, and swaybars.

Is there an X74 which works for 99-01 cars, though? (Pete's car is a '99)

X74 is not recomended for the '99-01 as per factory. This was due to the fact that the 02-04 cars are heavier and the shock rates were adjusted to thoes values. The difference in weight is minimal (less than 200lbs) and the parts will fit. If you like the X74 use them on the earlier cars as there really is no problem with using them on earilier cars.

gert will sell you the x74 minus 'bars. you can add the gt3 adjustable 'bars for greater tune-ablity and have the best of both worlds.

I've got this shot, but it's harder to see. The front isn't as dramatic as the rear. Every car settles a little differentlty though.

C4S Surgeon:

The stock suspension for the C4S is the ROW M030, at least that is what our dealer service rep told me when I had them install PSS9.
