Thumbs up Racoon scratched my paint job. What would you do?

A racoon managed to sequester himself in our garage and then proceed to take a midnight walk on the wild side across my arena red car. Left some nice superficial scratch marks from his claws as he used the car to look out the elevated window to gaze at the full moon Seems he ate his way out of the garage through the weather stripping. But that's another story. Clever fellow.

What would you do to return the car to pristine paint?
Well, I applied Zaino #5, scratch and swirl remover to the marks. Waited 30 min. and then rubbed it off.
What racoon?

No affilaition with Zaino, just a very pleased user for the past 4 years.
BTW, how would Rejex do in this situation?

A friend of mine recently put a scratch in the pain while getting his bags out of the back

The scratch is deep enough to be felt with a finger nail. Do you think this stuff would work for this?

Thanks!

The racoon induced marks were very slight, could hardly feel them with my fingernail but they stood out in bright light. I have used Z5 before on other cars with deeper scratches and it seem to 'fill' them with the liquid-gloss like substance making the scratch appear much less noticeable. It is a remarkable wet appearing treatment that lasts quite long for me.
If you want to try it, Zainobros.com now has a website for ordering in contrast to the archaic method of mailed checks they used before. You will probably need to go the route of wwashing with dawn to strip the wax, then apply Z1 bonder, then Z2 or Z3 depending on whether you have clear coat then Z5. Its much less cumbersome than it sounds. You just wipe on, wait then wipe off. No hard rubbing or buffing needed. I just did the whole treatment to the 996 last night. Started at 4:30, took the family to dinner, finished wiping off Z5 at 9:30pm. I prefer the way Z5 looks on the car rather than finishing with another coat of Z2. The more you apply the wetter it looks. You can see my Zaino-ed arena red car in its glory at

Get the raccoon a small set of leather gloves, make sure he wears them, and presto.....no scratch marks!!

Don't know if Porsche lifestyle carries anything like this!!

Get one of those flat 30" x 40" metal oil drip trays. Get some wire and attach a plug on one end and alligator clip on the other end. of each wire leg. Place the hot leg alligator clip to your car and the "nuetral" leg alligator clip to the metal tray. Plug it into a 110 outlet. Hope that rodent returns to your garage. Let him complete the circuit between the pan and the car. This should cure him. If not go to the 220 outlet. If that doesn't work consider moving. Also works for a metal garbage can.

You guys are a riot! At least no one has suggested a shotgun. Very messy autobody repair.

Also not affiliated with Zaino but would have suggested Z5 also. I've been a happy Zaino user for a couple of years now, and frankly, haven't seen much difference between Zaino Z2/Z6 and Rejex for ability to ward off bugs or brake dust. Z5 is mildly abrasive and I don't believe Rejex is, so I would expect your results to be better with Z5 for scratch removal.......

Geez, I awoke this morning to find I left my garage door open overnight, and there was trash from the cans strewn all over the place (we're surrounded by woods). My immediate thought was OH NO! the car Seems the coons found what they were looking for though and left the P-car be. Whew!

I feel your panic. Living in the country as well, we live in fear of the 4 legged critters around here not the upright standing ones. Its a great problem to have though, considering the alternatives.
My nightly question to my kids has become: "garage door down?'

Would you leave the little gloves on, after toasting it with the drip pan/alligator clip cooking method??
