Question Racing suspension-which one?

Own a 99' 996 that is headed to the track. DE to start then on to PCA, POC etc. Looking for advice on coilovers, what brand and spring rates. Looking at H&R, PSS9, Cross by JIC and Motion. Need information on required camber plates, setting other part etc. Also will be adding Sway bars at the same time, prefer adjustable front and rear. Racers/Track junkies Help!

Find a local pcar tuner and talk to them. I talked to Rennsport in Portland and got pss-9 with gt3 sways and am very happy with the set up.

It seems that Pss9 are OK for street and occasional tracking. X-73 could also be a choice. It seems that Moton will be a choice for a track dedicated TT- Here some threads on Pss9 and Moton :

PSS9's are very good for mixed track and street driving.

The X-74 will not be adjustable.

Will your car be turned into a track specific car? Will you be willing to sacrifice comfort for handling on the race track? What's your budget? Do you know what class you want to run in (the rules may dictate your suspension choices)?

One very easy way to get to where you want is to attend several races and see what the top drivers are using. Find a good Porsche race shop and have them work with you and your driving style to dial in your suspension.

We have had great sucess with the following setups:
PSS9s - Street use with occasional track events
JIC Cross - Street use with more aggressive track use
Moton - Track use with occasional street
JRZ & Fox - Track use only

Thanks for all the help so far. Great bullet point description of suspension brands and usage. You confirmed what I had heard so far. The car will eventually be primarily track use with the occasional steet drive to the shop.
Great point about class rules regulating suspension set ups. Budget is 4000.00 for suspension which includes the coilovers, swaybars and misc. camber plates, etc.
George could you tell me more about the Moton. I know the Cross has three race spring rate set ups. A friend is running the middle set up and likes it on the track. Another friend is running JRZ on track and street. Very fast on the track, hard on street, which is ok, but has replaced all four units at least once. Any opinions on sway bars? Thanks again
