Question GT3 Seat Painting

Hello, I just purchased a pair of GT3 seats, and would like to paint itīs back and perhaps the upper seat belt hole moldings... Anyone had any experience unmounting those parts ?

I need to unmount them as I donīt trust the paint shop to do that...

Thanks in advance!

I had mine painted yellow. They look great!. I also bought yellow seat and back insert cushings. The tricky part was re-installing the leather seat wrappings. The dealer could not get the leather smooth and finally sent them to an upolstery shop. They came back perfect. I guess it is all in having the right tools and knowing the tricks of the trade.

Did you removed the back piece to paint ? How hard is it ? Any hints ?

Thanks,

They took off the leather covering before sending to the paint shop. They probably masked off what they needed to. They are perfect in everyway. As I said though, putting the leather back on properly took some doing. It tended to wrinkle around the seat belt cutouts. They view of the seatbacks through the stainless roll bar is fantastic. The car draws a crowd every time it is at the dealer. I need to post some pics. If it ever stops raining here I will take a couple.

Wow, this is SO timely because I just bought the GT3 seats and I was just trying to figure out how to mount an extinguisher.

So does that mount interfere with the factory crossmember for 5/6 point harnesses? Or is there any anti-submarine mounting bar that is compatible with this extinguisher mount?

I left a message for akkurat. I hope they call back soon. Did you guys get the extinguisher from them, too?

Doug, how do the seat belt inserts on the GT3 seats hold up? I was considering doing something to that sort, but just worried that the seat belts would rub the paint off over time.

Thanks for the info Doug, I am probably going to customize mine in carbon fiber, something different than the rest since the back of my seats are carbon already.
