Sorry guys, im sure this is covered many times but please humour me.
Is there any audible difference between the early type non adjustable PSE and the later type that you can adjust from the cockpit ?
And where would you connect the early vacuum operated valves too ?
Post 2002 exhaust can have electrics or not but it sounds the same. Pre 2002 exhaust sound different. The post 02 exhaust has a much deeper note not as raspy.
Fishman,
The PSE can be installed with or without electrics, the latter option giving you a switch in the cockpit (which has an exhaust symbol on it) which enables you to switch the exhaust to an "off" (i.e. non PSE) position, for example, if you don't want to disturb neighbours/raise the dead when you are leaving early or returning late. Cost of installing the electrics adds about 7.5 hours labour (sorry - UK spelling!) to what should otherwise be a 2 - 2.5 hour installation (I think). People I know with the electrics installed don't tend to use the switch at all - they want the beautiful sound all the time!
Regards
Deeps
No problem. I have a 2002 C4S which I recently bought used, but (incredibly sadly), without PSE. I am currently looking at exhaust options, including PSE, because that's all I need to make the car perfect.
deeps, I recently bought a PSE system to pull apart and look at as I am making sports boxes for the 996, I am modifying standard boxes to sport spec, I will be offering them on an exchange basis for sensible money, my intention is to let people try them and if you like them it gives me the green light to mod yours and exchange again, if you are interested please contact at tispkj@hotmail.com
