No metal debris in oil filter or Sump are good signs it is not self destructing ...
I would never condemn an engine if it ran smooth, has good power,not using oil or smoking,(blow-by) ,and is not self destructing ....
Do you have a UOA ??
On some noises a 4ft long 3/8 rubber hose is more useful than a Stethoscope for locating noise ......
