Recently I have begun using Menzerna FMJ which is a polymer. The attached photo is my C4S done with Klasse All In One and P21S. The problem is that here in Florida the wax melts quickly. The new polymers do not melt and they do not attract dust the way wax does.

Frank,

Looks awesome. How long have you been using FMJ? How does it compare to other products you have used?

I have only used Menzerna FMJ for the last month. I polished the car with Menzerna Final, then I applied their glaze. I then put on two coats of FMJ. So far the car looks very good and it seems to be holding up. I wash the car every other day.

Having tried Zymol, Zaino and Rejex, I've settled on Zaino. All three are fine products, but my experience has been that Zaino is more durable than Rejex, or at least no less durable.

Frankly, after spending a bunch of time applying polish to the car, the last thing I want to do is park it for 12 hours so the Rejex can "cure".

OKAY, It's time to stir the pot.... I use a product called Collinite Fiberglass Boat Wax aka: Collinite Insulator Wax. No cleaners, no silicone and it lasts and lasts. The surface feels awesome and looks super. Good enough to be competitive in PCA national concours competition. And, it costs $12.95 and is available at any boat supply store.

I have started using NTX after Meguiars sent me samples. Its great. Personally, i find their Gold Class Wax to be a little more reflective. On the other hand, the NTX lasts longer and removes/applies quicker, so i prefer it on my daily car. Oh, and it smells good.

Wax alone WILL not make your car shiny. Its a protective step. For swirls and such, you should use a mildy abbrasive paint cleaner or similar. Between that and polishes, you shouldn't have any problems with swirls. If a scratch remains, its probably too deep for such light removal products. Try a rubbing compund or Scratch-X or something similar.

For a DEEP intense shine, you must use a straight polish. At the moment i prefer Meguiars Deep Crystal Polish. I found it looks better (to me) than most others ive tried. Add a couple coats if you like too. Deeper the better right?

Wax protects that awesome shine. Since NTX and other polymer waxes just arent as reflective, you might want to try throwing a carnauba wax on there too. The Pinnacle Souveran stuff is wild. It wont last long though, so enjoy its shine quick! You want a mega shine, throw a coat of this on in addition to what you use. Souveran Carnauba

Oh yeah, do your wheels the same way if they are painted! And if you are at a show or somewhere, clean em' up real quick and then hit them with Quick Detailer! Reflective wheels aren't just for the blingin' chrome!

What's the point of metallic paint if it doesn't blow you mind with shine????

Thanks. It's a testament to knowledge of products and cleaning in my opinion. (do what works!) 13 year old original paint and it was a daily driver for the first 2 owners and the bodywork still feels like silk.

You're welcome, it really is a beauty! All Porsche's (especially those taken care of like yours) are a pleasure to drool over.

I have a 1981 280ZX that we (actually my father when I was 10) bought in the summer of 81 that has 60K miles on it now and looks like (well almost like) your 944. Have totally babied that car and get plenty of compliments. Sometimes I think I put more TLC into the 81 Z than the 996 (but please don't tell the 996 )

Something about a timeless sportscar.

Yeah, i love to see older original cars that have really been taken car of, specially if they are driven!

Our cars will be quite a sight when everything is sooo different in 30 years!
