Default Transmission fluid change

Looking at changing the transmission fluid in my 01 996 C4 manual and wondering if I should use the Swepco 203 or just go with OEM Porsche Thoughts? Car has a 113k and I don't think it's ever been changed.

Unfortunately, there’s no consensus on this. I think both those are great options, so recommend just picking one.

I did a poll on this and spent a bunch of time trying to figure out what was best. Porsche is the most popular. I chose swepco since LN engineering recommends it and it is in the 101 projects for you 911 guide (996 version). They don’t name it, but have a picture of it in the front.

I would tell you how the swepco is, but I don’t drive in snow or salt so am waiting for better weather to see how it performs.

After further research the Liquid Moly full synthetic hypoid GL4/5 SAE 75w90 is what FCP Euro recommends as an alternative to Porsche OEM transmission oil....plus it's like $50/liter cheaper then OEM...so I'll go with that.

There are quite a few threads. Picking the right oil makes a big difference if your current oil is tired...

Thank you. Seems there's mixed feelings. As mentioned I'll go with Liquid Moly sub as FCP Euro recommend as an alternative.

Fresh fluid is going to be great in there!

There’s a magnet on the bottom of the transmission just forward of the drain plug. Good to check it after draining the fluid.

Switched out the fluid this morning and yes it seems smoother.....maybe it's just in my head but things seem to be better. The original fluid wasn't that dirty (I didn't know the last time it was changed) but I'm glad I did it. Overall easy job to do!
