I was just reading in the current "Excellence" (page 30 in Tech Notes, September issue) that starting in '99 C4 cars fitted with Bosch Motronic 7.2 received 300hp but I've never seen that documented anywhere else. Has anyone else heard of this and is it true?

I think the 99 comes stock with 296 HP doesn't it. 4HP increase is pretty small. Probably not worth the effort.

I'm not suggesting an upgrade, I was just asking if what "Excellence" quoted was true. They claim that when the car when to E-Gas throttle control which increased the hp to 300hp.

Can anyone confirm this?

I got a gain of 11hp from a new cat back exhaust on my G35 and couldn't really tell. Sounds nice though. Dynos are so fickle. Maybe the day they tested the C4 that's what they got. I don't put much credence in any of these numbers. Just go by feel. That's what matters most right. How it feels to YOU. Well that's what I go by... The feel I really like is the feel of my C4s slick surface after a few coats of Rejex. HE HE

That's what the article implies. It basically states that starting with the '99 C4 they used E-Gas and Motronic 7.2 which in turned equated to 300hp. Apparently that excluded the '99 Carrera 2.

e-gas was added in the begining of the 2000 MY to c-2 cars I think ALL c-4 cars regardless of year have e-gas.
