I'm thinking about getting those painted headlight bezels for my '99 996. Do you guys recommend them or not? Can anyone who has them post photos of your car? Also, how do you install them and where can I get them (and how much $$).
Thanks,
Mark

I think it just depends if you like the look or not. Mine are Strosek, I got them from Fred Opert Racing.

They ran around $300.00 and then $200.00 to paint.
TechArt makes them too.

You glue them on the lights. I don't think you'd ever get the glue off, so you'd probably have to buy new lights to change back.
After driving an '82 Targa for ten years I was all set to get a 993. Then I drove a 996 and wanted one, but couldn't get used to the headlights. My salesman showed me a pic of the Strosek covers on a 996 and I was sold.

I got a pair similar to Rob's on eBay. They were already painted in AS and they are attached using adhesive caulk. I did not find the fit to be perfect, but it does look good IMHO.

I like mine, they have been in place for a couple of years. I HATED the original headlamps without any covers , not the least because they were shared with the boxter. These fit perfect, and are attached with double sided tape. i had them painted by a pro who does mucho Porsche work.....

Gretch,
Where did you purchase the ones on your car? They look great! Do you remember what they cost? And what did you pay to have them painted?
Thanks,
Mark

i had the same ones as gretch on my 2001 C4. they only cost me $150, you can find the same ones on ebay right now for about the same price. the guy selling them bought them from a porsche dealer in germany that was going out of business, and he paid very little for them, so that's why he's selling them so cheap. i also attached mine with double-sided tape. they held fine until one day last winter when i was doing 130 MPH on route 2 (for anybody in MA that knows it) and one of them started to flap around a little. it didn't come off though, so i stopped, pulled it off, bought some tape when i got home, and re-attached it.
FYI, the pictures of these covers don't do them justice. they look WAY WAY WAY better in person!
