Default Which CD changer?

Will the Becker Silverstone work with the PCM1?

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/prod...roducts_id=169

Also, I heard that there is Sony that will work with it. Can anyone tell me what one it is?

I take it that the CD changer will come with the correct cable to plug it straight in.

Thanks,

Matt

The Becker unit you want is 2660 and it comes with the cable. The 7860 is the replacement. It is smaller and not a direct fit on the Porsche mounting bracket. Horst on the Becker board said the 7860 does not work well with PCM1 due to a memory loss.

We cannot get new 2660 units in the US because it has been discontinued. Try on the UK Boxster board boxa.net as they have found a source for the 2660 in the UK.

What is the memory loss? Does it forget where the CD was stopped when the ignition is turned off?

Whilst doing a search for the CD changer I stumbled across this JVC changer that says it has a Becker connection and will play MP3s. May be worth checking out?

I have a factory CDC3 that coming up for sale real soon. PM me if you're interested. It's from an 02 so it should work with non most setups. Not 100% sure about PCM compatability.

Hi David, I've got one! I'm looking in to this for a friend and he doesn't want one!

I inquired about this Changer and it apparently works with non most (optic)
Porsche CDR-22 head units (Becker)..

Plays all 12 CD's via the head unit and
plays back MP3's, shows track numbers not ID3 tags.

Interesting...
