I have a 2000 C2 with a 3.4L M96 engine, and doing a bore score inspection this week. Are there specific cylinders that would score first or show more signs of wear?
I remember reading 5 and 6 wear more, but I can't find the source. I just want to make sure my mechanic pays closer attention to specific cylinders if needed.

Thanks!
The 3.4L had Ferrostan coated pistons are rarely experience bore scoring, I would be more concerned with cylinder wall cracking/D-chunking. On the 3.6L with Ferroprint coated pistons it is 4-5-6 that typically experience bore scoring first.
The bank 2 side of the M96/7 is most likely to start scoring first due to (1) the bank 2 side pistons have an unfavorable pin off-set that increases the thrust load on that side compared to the bank 1 side (2) the oil cooler/heat ex changer is mounted on the bank 2 side and increases the temperature of the cylinders and pistons on that side..#6 getting the highest temp
The piston coating on the early 3.4 engines up to 2000 was a robust Ferostan Iron clad plating, after 2000 ( spuratically) the plastic type less robust FerroPrint was starting to filter in...
