Thumbs up Performance numbers.

A friend of mine writes tech articles and uses this (http://www.racelogic.co.uk/2003/vbox/vboxii.htm) to capture the cars performance data. While I was over at his house this weekend installing my V1, he suggested we use this on my car…OKAY!

I suck at the launch but to be honest, I’ve never really practiced it very much in this car. My 60’ times should be much better but looking at the data, I'm at least consistent.

Anyway, I post this data for everyone’s enjoyment and entertainment.

Data on my car:
1999 996, 6spd, GHL exhaust, 93octane and it was about 90F outside with about 80% humidity.

Run1:
0 - 60 mph 5.10 s
0 - 100 mph 12.82 s
Vmax 131.29 mph
60ft 2.24 s
1/4 mile time 13.69 s
1/4 mile Vmax speed 103.34 mph
0-100m 5.82 s
0-200m 8.85 s
0-400m 13.64 s
0-500m 15.73 s
0-1km 24.84 s
Mile time 45.62 s
Mile Vmax 63.35 mph
10m time 1.66 s

Run2:
0 - 60 mph 5.11 s
0 - 100 mph 12.09 s
Vmax 148.76 mph
60ft 2.21 s
1/4 mile time 13.57 s
1/4 mile Vmax speed 104.94 mph
0-100m 5.81 s
0-200m 8.81 s
0-400m 13.52 s
0-500m 15.58 s
0-1km 24.53 s
Mile time 34.07 s
Mile Vmax 148.23 mph
10m time 1.62 s

Nick, don't get offended by a lack of responses. We're all interested in your numbers. I guess most of us like to turn left and right.

Your '99 is obviously running very well.

As do I. I'm an avid track participant and instructor. I’ve been doing DE’s for years as well as SOLO 2. I don’t get into this 1/4 mile stuff personally but I do like to know what my car is capable of.

You've got to give some of us a chance to reply!

Excellent post. Where we you able to test the mile time? Oval track?

hehe, sorry matterhorn.... There is a very long stretch of road that my buddy uses to do his testing. I hope to have the vbox in my car the next time I go to TWS for an event.

Default Interesting

I'm sure there are a lot of us out there that used to sit on the drags every weekend or late nights on the streets.

I too come from a background where we would go to the know illegal street strip late nights (around 12:00) and run our cars. Of course back then I was pulling 12s & 13s but hey not bad for street tires on a 10K budget...

We had a couple of guys in our team pulling 10's on street tires. Not bad considering they were natural asp... motors. Oh did I forget to mention we were a Rotary Powered Team?.....

I wish you were local so I could put mine on for a test......

Nick,

You should've bought a Rustang. After all, you DO live in Texas. ;P

At what rpm did you launch? To some extent your times will vary with how much you are willing to punish your clutch. Probably not too many guys here are interested in 1/4 times because you can buy a car for substantially less and get better 1/4 times. For example an unmodified $30K Mitsubishi EVO will be competitive with your car in both 0-60 and1/4 mile times. At the drag strip I've seen unmodified EVOs run 13.3s.

So True - I have seen it all too many times, at the 1/4 track, I use to go with some of my brothers M5 crew to race my CLK55 ///AMG which always gave me great 1/4 runs 13.3 /5 - I have yet to try to perform 1/4 and 0-60 runs with my Targa because she really wasn't meant to peform in this stage, track is where she feels right at home.

P.S. You had good times, 0-60 were very good - thanks for sharing..
