Default C2 to turbo

I am beginning to think I want to get a 996 turbo. I wouldn't sell my C2 as I am in love with it, and it is truly sorted from top to bottom -- it is a wonderful car.

Being honest I favor the svelteness of a lightweight, RWD sports car vs. a significantly heavier car with AWD. That said, the exhilaration of the turbo and the robustness of the Mezger powerplant are pulling me that way. I thought about a GT3 but think at this point I would prefer a car a little less raw and a little more comfortable.

Any members who have both, or that have gone from a C2 to a turbo care to share their thoughts? Would it be bordering on redundant having both?

I started with my 02 Turbo (ABS,AWD, PSM )& then got my 00 C2 factory aero car with only ABS. There is a world of difference in the 2 cars, both tremendously satisfying (except on my wallet). However, there is something extremely arousing when I wash those big hips on the turbo. The C2 feels like Twiggy…

I appreciate the unique drive of each car. Both cars are “raw” by today’s standards. The C2 is the closest to a 993 feeling that I could afford. More tossable than the turbo but there is little substitute when those turbos kick in.

You could always convert the 996 Turbo to RWD.

Blasphemous, but an LS swap retains the svelt dimensions of the C2, but has the power of the turbo. Weighs the same as a C2 I believe. Sell your current engine to pay for the swap.

I had only briefly begun entertaining the notion of what to do to refresh my 99's engine at a future date before it was totaled in a flash flood but yeah the LS swap looked super interesting and probably didnt even change the weight or balance that much.
Yes it would be a franken-abomination and nobody would work on it other than the owner but dang... it such an intriguing choice.
